Coralie Demay conserve son maillot à l'issue d'une 4ème étape disputée sous la forme d'un critérium et dans des conditions climatiques difficiles.

Le samedi soir , place au fameux critérium de Kilkenny Castle avec départ le magnifique château de Kilkenny. Au programme 45' de course + 3 tours afin de départager les courageuses cyclistes obligées d'affronter la pluie à nouveau. Le circuit rendu très glissant n'allait pas épargner les Breizh Girls. Une crevaison de Coralie a été suivie d'attaques de sa dauphine qui ne s'est pas distinguée par son fair-play. Cécilia fit preuve d'un geste réflexe de grande classe en effectuant un dépannage express en donnant sa roue à Coralie. Coralie réintégra le peloton et parvint à se replacer avant l'emballage final. Nos 3 bretonnes restantes à l'avant (Noémie, Marine et Coralie) se préparaient à jouer la gagne lorsque Marine glissa lourdement dans le dernier virage du circuit, à 4km du but, à 1km de la fameuse barrière des 3km qui permet de rester dans le temps de la première. Marine ne voulant pas abandonner remonta sur son vélo avant d'être victime de vertiges et de devoir s'arrêter. 6 minutes plus tard les 40 rescapées arrivaient au sprint et Nicola Juniper accrocha une nouvelle étape à son tour, bien aidée par d'autres concurrentes britanniques. Coralie assura l'essentiel en ne prenant pas de cassures (9ème) alors que Noémie en regain de confiance réalisa une belle performance pour remonter à la 9ème place du général. 

 

Malheureusement, après examen du médecin, Marine fût déclarée inapte à prendre le départ demain dimanche et c'est à 4 que nos guerrières vont tenter de défendre le beau maillot rose de leader. Face aux équipes anglaises plus que solidaires, nos filles auront fort à faire pour préserver la maigre avance de Coralie. Le souffle de leurs supporters bretons devra être puissamment dirigé vers elles pour leur donner la force d'aller au bout de leur épopée Irlandaise.

 

Demain place à la dernière étape de 90k autour de Kilkenny avec comme seule difficulté le grimpeur d'Inistioge (1km à 10%).
